Guide for Authors

  • Chinese Journal of Clinical Anatomy was founded in July 1983 by Academician Zhong Shizhen, a famous clinical anatomist in China. It is a state-level core journal of basic medicine, supervised by the Chinese Association for Science and Technology, sponsored by the Chinese Anatomical Society, and sponsored by the Department of Anatomy, School of Basic Medicine, Southern Medical University. Chinese Journal of Clinical Anatomy has been included as the core journal of basic medicine by "A Guide to the Core Journal of China", which is a national level I journal. It has been cited by a variety of domestic search tools and databases, including the Chinese Medical Current Contents (CMCC), the Chinese Biomedical Disc (CBMDisc), the large full-text database of Chinese Academic Journals (CD-ROM version), and the Chinese Medical Abstract, etc., which is the source journal of the Chinese Scientific Citation Database and a scientific journal with high citation frequency. The journal is fully indexed in China National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI) and has been included in digital platforms such as Chaoxing Domain Publishing, Wanfang Database, Chinese Medical Association, and Chongqing VIP. It has also launched an official WeChat public account and mini-program. The academic quality and influence of the journal have steadily improved, being indexed in Peking University Core, CSCD, CSSCI, and WJCI.

    1. Submission Requirements and Important Notes

    1.1 Online-first Publication

For manuscripts stemming from major national research initiatives, such as the National Key Research and Development Program, the National Natural Science Foundation of China, overseas joint fund projects, as well as other high-quality papers with significant clinical relevance or exceptional scientific value, the editorial office may, upon completion of the peer-review process, recommend them for online-first publication. Once published online first, these papers will be simultaneously made available for searching and downloading in the full-text database of CNKI.

    1.2 Submission Guidelines

Authors are required to register and submit their manuscripts through the official online submission system of this journal (www.chjcana.com). The Editorial Office will generally notify the corresponding author of the decision—whether acceptance, revision, or rejection—within three months from the date of receipt of the manuscript. If the author do not receive any editorial feedback within three months after submission, they are encouraged to contact the editorial office by mail or by phone for an inquiry.

    1.3 Rights and Responsibilities

Authors are solely responsible for the authenticity of all data presented in their manuscripts. By submitting a manuscript, authors warrant that: (1) the work has not been previously published or submitted to another journal simultaneously (no duplicate submission); (2) the content does not involve any state secrets or confidential information; (3) there are no disputes regarding authorship or institutional affiliation. All manuscripts are submitted at the authors' own liability. In accordance with the Copyright Law of the People's Republic of China, the editorial office reserves the right to make editorial modifications, revisions, or abridgments to the accepted manuscripts as deemed necessary. The journal holds the rights of reproduction, distribution, information network dissemination, and compilation of the published articles. Authors of articles published in the Chinese Journal of Clinical Anatomy retain the copyright to their work while granting the journal the right of first publication. All content is licensed under a Copyright License Agreement. Upon submission, authors are required to download the License Agreement from the "Download Center" section on the journal's official homepage. The Agreement must be signed by all authors, and the signed copy (scanned or photographed) must be uploaded to the submission system. Upon publication, two complimentary copies of the issue will be sent to the corresponding author.

    1.4 Column Settings

The journal includes the following regular columns: Applied Anatomy, Sectional and Imaging Anatomy, Experimental Research, Clinical Biomechanics, Clinical Research, Technical Methods, and Review Articles.

    2. Writing Requirements

    2.1 Authorship and Funding Information

Authors' names and institutional affiliations should be formatted in accordance with the style of recently published articles available on the journal's website. At the end of the manuscript, the following information must be provided for both the first author (year of birth, educational background, academic title, research interests, and E-mail address) and the corresponding author:. Additionally, the funding source supporting the research should be acknowledged, with the grant name and number clearly stated, e.g., "Fund Project: National Natural Science Foundation of China (30271269)."

    2.2 Abstract

All submitted manuscripts must be accompanied by both Chinese and English abstracts. Each abstract should be structured into four sections: Objective, Methods, Results, and Conclusions. The English abstract should contain approximately 400 words and must accurately reflect the content of the Chinese version. Preceding the English abstract, the following elements should be provided: the English title of the article, the names of all authors (e.g., Liu Dehui), and the institutional affiliations of all authors (down to the department/unit level).

    2.3 Figures and Tables

All figures should be numbered consecutively with Arabic numerals in the order of their first citation in the text (e.g., Figure 1, Figure 2 / Fig. 1, Fig. 2). For combined figures consisting of two or more figures, each figures should be labeled with uppercase letters (A, B, C, etc.) in sequence. Authors must ensure high image quality with a resolution of no less than 300 ppi. The file size of a single figure is generally recommended to be above 600 KB and preferably not exceeding 2 MB. If arrows, labels, or other annotations are required in the figure, authors must provide both the annotated version and the original unannotated version (the editorial office will process the final figure according to the annotations provided by the authors).

Tables should be presented in a three-line format, with a concise and logical design. When data are limited (e.g., fewer than five data points), they should be described in the text rather than presented in a table. For tables involving statistical content, the main statistical values should be explained in the form of table footnotes placed below the table, with corresponding data appropriately marked within the table. Figure legends and table titles must be provided in both Chinese and English. All textual content within figures and tables may be presented in Chinese only.

    2.4 Reference

In the main text, references should be cited consecutively using Arabic numerals in square brackets as superscripts, in the order of their first appearance. For references with three or fewer authors, all authors should be listed; for those with more than three authors, only the first three authors should be listed, followed by "等" (for Chinese references) or "et al." (for English references). The abbreviations of journal titles and author names should follow the style used in the Index Medicus, as compiled by the U.S. National Library of Medicine. For Chinese references, a bilingual (Chinese and English) version must be provided.

Examples of reference formatting are as follows:
